A concerning video has emerged out of Chiredzi district in Zimbabwe where a 13-year-old boy named Tafadzwa has informed his uncle that he wants to marry an 11-year-old girl named Pressures, prompting their alleged guardians to take them for disciplinary action.

As per eyewitness accounts, the teenagers had gone to visit the house of the boy’s uncle for introductions.

Regrettably, the recording that has been circulating online indicates that the event didn’t go as planned, as the underage couple received punishment from the host.

The uncle can be seen thrashing the young ones left, right and center as he speaks in Xichangana language.

The occurrence has garnered severe criticism and provoked concerns from diverse groups.

What the law says

In the previous year in a similar event, a judge in the High Court ruled that the act of physical punishment is acceptable and cannot be categorized as a criminal offense and assault provided that it’s proved to be a form of discipline.

This was after a mother was cleared of charges of k!lling her 13-year-old son while trying to discipline him.
