South African Woman Buys Unemployed Husband Mercedes-Benz on R23K Monthly Debt

South African Woman Buys Unemployed Husband Mercedes-Benz on R23K Monthly Debt – Dr. Celiwe Dada’s financial struggles have been making waves on the internet, with many people sh0cked by the events that unfolded in her marriage.
Now a single mother of three, Celiwe has been sharing her experience on TikTok, detailing how her husband’s obsession with status led to financial disaster.
The smartest decision she made, she says, was ensuring that all the cars were purchased in her name.
She and her husband met at church, fell in love, and got married.
At the time, she was pursuing a medical career and doing her community service, while her husband ran a barbershop.
In 2019, with one child already and another on the way, she decided to buy a family car.
However, her husband persuaded her to go for an expensive model, which cost her R15K a month in installments.
Two years later, in 2021, the car was involved in an accident. Fortunately, her husband survived, and the insurance covered the damages. Seeing this as an opportunity to reduce financial strain, Celiwe suggested getting a more affordable car.
However, her husband refused to consider anything less than a Mercedes-Benz, insisting that his status would not allow him to downgrade.
The new car, including insurance, cost R23K per month, pushing Celiwe into a severe financial strain.
Eventually, she could no longer keep up with expenses, leading to challenges in providing for their children.
Meanwhile, her husband refused to relocate to a more affordable area near her job, claiming that his status did not permit him to live outside the city.
As her finances collapsed, Celiwe moved into a small backroom while her husband remained in the city.
Eventually, the relationship fell apart, and she left him, becoming a single mother to their three children.
She continues to share more details of the red flags she ignored throughout their relationship on TikTok, hoping others can learn from her experience.
