Soldier Killed in Mutare after Found Nak£d in Bed With Side Chick – A soldier stationed at 41 Infantry Battalion was fatally stabbed in a suspected love triangle incident in Mutare on October 29, police have confirmed.
The deceased, identified as Lance Corporal Mangena, was reportedly stabbed multiple times in the abdomen by Kumbirai Mugona (45) of Chikanga Phase 2. The incident occurred at a house in Mountain Rise, Mutare.
Investigations reveal that Mangena, who was attending a basic driver’s course at 3 Infantry Brigade Headquarters, had gone to visit his girlfriend, Lucia Saunyana (22).

While the two were together, Mugona — who was also in a relationship with Saunyana — allegedly phoned her, expressing his wish to visit.
She reportedly told him not to come, but he still drove to her residence around 10:20 PM in his Toyota Hiace.
Realising Mugona had arrived, Saunyana reportedly fled the scene.
The suspect allegedly entered the house, found Mangena naked in bed, ran back to his vehicle for a knife, and stabbed the soldier several times in the stomach.
Police said Mugona then drove himself to ZRP Chikanga, where he surrendered. Responding officers found Mangena lying unconscious in a pool of blood.
He was rushed to Mutare General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Mugona is in police custody, while the soldier’s body was transferred to the Mutare General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.
