Kuda Mahachi has sent summons to journalist Ezra Tshisa Sibanda demanding $100 000 usd in damages for defamation.
According to released documents seen by Afrogazette, Mahachi says he wants compensation for damages to his fair name and reputation as an individual as well as in his career as a soccer player.
The damages arise from defamatory material concerning him written and broadcasted by journalist Sibanda.
This roots come from a video which circulated last year, where Mahachi was alleged to have burnt his four-year-old son Diego, with hot water in South Africa.
The son was reported to have been admitted at Mpilo hospital with a possibility that his leg would be cut off.
The journalist reported that no aid came from the footballer but Mahachi confirmed he had no access to his son due to the granted protection order.
Right now, Mahachi is suing Sibanda because of his statements claiming they lacked his consent, were unjustified and untruthful.
Mahachi is entitled to damages as claimed, if it is considered that at the time of issuing summon.
He wants Sibanda to pay $100 000 usd for damages payable at the prevailing interbank rate.
