By Loyd Matare

As Zimbabwe grapples with the loss of another national hero with the latest being Justin Hugh Mbombo Mupamhanga, affectionately known as Comrade Top Ten, Acting President Constantino Chiwenga has issued a rallying call to citizens, urging them to remain united and focused in the face of challenges, and to shun corrupt and self-serving practices that undermine the nation’s progress in the name of gaining popularity as ‘mbingas’.

Speaking at the National Heroes Acre, acting President Constantino Chiwenga has urged Zimbabweans to remain united and focused shaming those individuals who are well vested in corrupt deeds for personal gains to gain popularity as ‘mbinga’.

“Our Vision 2030 is for all of us, kwete dzamunoti mbinga! Kuhondo taidziti zvigananda: those who grow big tummies through ill-gotten wealth and questionable morals!”

Chiwenga emphasized that a nation’s development is measured by the well-being of its weakest citizens and remotest areas.

“A Nation is as developed as its weakest man and woman; indeed, as its remotest part,” he said.

The Acting President acknowledged that the government is aware of the challenges facing the nation, including unreliable public transport, unregulated informal markets, health, and infrastructure challenges.

“Irrespective of all these, we must remain united and focused. Let us remain vigilant and ready to defend our country, its resources, and ideals,” he urged.

Chiwenga praised the late Cde Mupamhanga for his commitment to building a prosperous Zimbabwe.

“Today, we honor Cde Mupamhanga for his unwavering commitment to building a prosperous Zimbabwe. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, hard work, and an unyielding resolve to protect our nation’s values and resources.”

The Acting President called on Zimbabweans to draw inspiration from Cde Mupamhanga’s legacy and work towards achieving national unity and development.

“Let us ensure that his example inspires us to tackle the pressing challenges we face as we strive for national unity and development.”
