Shock as Maid Caught on Camera Allegedly Mixing Urine into Employer’s Food

LAGOS — A domestic worker has allegedly been filmed attempting to contaminate her employer’s food with urine, sparking widespread outrage after the footage surfaced online on Thursday.
The incident has provoked intense concern across Nigeria, particularly around household safety and the vetting of domestic workers.
The viral video, shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @Pep_Boxx, shows the maid being confronted while holding a bowl allegedly containing urine.
She appears visibly agitated as she is questioned on camera, though her motive remains unclear.
The footage, filmed inside a private kitchen, has spread rapidly across platforms.
According to Gistlover.com, the clip began trending within an hour of being posted, attracting thousands of views and igniting a wave of emotional reactions.
Some viewers described the act as “evil,” “disgusting,” and “spiritually driven,” with others calling it “witchcraft in daylight.”
Dozens of users said they could no longer eat food prepared by domestic staff without fear. One user wrote, “This is why people die mysteriously. Imagine the damage if they had eaten that.”
Others pushed for psychological screening of all household staff, urging authorities to treat this as both a criminal and mental health issue.
Still, a few voices urged calm, with one comment reading: “Before we spiritualise everything, let her be evaluated professionally. This might be deeper than rage.”
While the police have not yet confirmed whether formal charges will be laid, the video has triggered widespread calls for reform.
Many believe the incident should be a wake-up call for families to do background checks, offer psychological support, and rethink how domestic workers are managed.
