Sex Worker Stabbed After Client Demands Refund in Checheche

An 18-year-old man has been arrested in Chipinge after allegedly stabbing a sex worker with a broken beer bottle during a dispute over money at a local nightclub.

The incident occurred last Saturday at Mabidoo Night Club in Checheche Town Centre.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the arrest and identified the suspect as Cosmas Makuyana of Mahachi Village under Chief Musikavanhu.

“Investigations indicate that the suspect attacked the complainant following a disagreement over money after accusing her of betraying him,” said Chinyoka.

He said the victim, Patience Mlambo, was seated outside the nightclub with a friend when the suspect, who had been drinking inside, struck as she returned from the toilet.

“The suspect allegedly used a broken beer bottle to stab the victim,” Chinyoka said.

“She was ferried to St Peter’s Mission Hospital and is currently admitted receiving medical treatment.”

Makuyana has since appeared before the Chipinge Magistrates’ Court facing a charge of attempted murder.

“A report was made at ZRP Chisumbanje and police attended the scene,” Chinyoka said, adding that the weapon used in the attack has not yet been recovered and investigations are continuing.
