Saint TV owner robbed by couple he sheltered
A local media personality fell victim to theft yesterday when a young couple he had sheltered for three weeks made off with his laptop and $1 100 in cash, after initially approaching him at Kwame Mall.
The couple, identified as Clifford Simbarashe Mtapura (22) and Laura Grace Munyai (20) from Senga, Gweru had approached him at Kwame Mall, tearfully sharing their struggles as a young husband and wife, prompting him to offer them shelter in his home for over three weeks.
The stolen funds were intended to pay for his daughter’s school fees as she transitions to high school. The stolen laptop contained crucial work files, leaving Saint TV’s operations in jeopardy.
The media personality expressed his anguish in a post on X (formerly Twitter), saying: “If they had left and taken nothing, I could have said it’s okay. But they have destroyed me and my family.”
The incident, which occurred yesterday, has sparked widespread outrage and sympathy for the media personality, with many of his followers urging him to involve authorities to track down the perpetrators.
The Saint TV owner is expected to share more details in a video later today.
