Elias Chikwava, widely known as a sadza vendor from Chitungwiza, has earned recognition for his humanitarian efforts alongside his wife.
The couple was inspired to assist children living with disabilities after their own child was born with a disability. Their personal experience exposed them to the challenges faced by such families, prompting them to extend their support to others.
They have since opened their home to vulnerable children and are currently caring for 10 children living with disabilities, providing shelter, care, and emotional support.
While Mr Chikwava travels daily to the Harare Central Business District to sell sadza and sustain the household, his wife remains at home to care for the children.
In recognition of his efforts, Mr Chikwava was recently awarded a residential stand in Nyabira along with US$1,000 in cash by businessman and Ville Property CEO, Aaron Kumanja.
