Rusape man Jailed 4 years for tipping off robbers about neighbour’s $12 000 car purchase plans
A Rusape man, Ngoni Chisiiwe, has been sentenced to an effective 4-year prison term for tipping off a gang of robbers about his neighbor’s plans to buy a car in Harare using $12 000 earned from tobacco sales.
According to court records, the complainant had informed Chisiiwe about his plans to travel to Harare to purchase a vehicle on May 14, 2024, and had even invited Chisiiwe to accompany him. However, the trip was cancelled.
Chisiiwe then shared the complainant’s plans with Panganai Tapira, who organized a group of armed robbers to ambush the complainant.
The would-be robbers attempted to carry out the heist but were defeated by the complainant and his son.
Chisiiwe’s role in the botched robbery came to light during investigations, leading to his arrest and subsequent conviction.
