RISING STAR: Meet Zimbabwe’s Tafadzwa Matambanadzo Who Wants To Be The Next Gospel Star
Zimbabwean rising gospel artist and songwriter Tafadzwa Matambanashe is no ordinary star.
He is back to sail through with fellow citizens in these hard times as he relishes hope in new song ‘Focus’ which he collaborated with his contemporary Lesley Chibhamu.
This has become his latest offering released on 26 July 2023, the day which also marked his 26th birthday.
“The track reaches out with words of comfort and hope to those in difficult situations to never turn back,” he said.
Speaking about the inspiration behind his new song, Tafadzwa said what drives him to write lyrics is whatever he would have listened to.
According to him, prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa’s ‘Ukacheuka unochema’ sermon pushed him to pen down and record the song.
Determined to make his mark in the industry, Tafadzwa admitted the challenges faced in the music industry known to be a highly competitive domain especially when one lacks illustrious reputation.
“As upcoming artists we lack reviews, exposure and you can’t do much when your name is not yet out there,” Tafadzwa told this publication.
Tafadzwa’s discography includes album – Chinganditadzisa chii, singles Ramangwana and Nguva nemukana released in 2021.
This year, he has released a single titled Simba Rekuchibata and has a new album, Chiri Musango on the way.
Besides music being part of his life, he grew up to study theology at Revival Bible School and is currently in his third year.
