Reckless Toyota Fortuner Driver Flees After Ditch Plunge in Borrowdale – A dramatic crash occurred yesterday around 5pm in Borrowdale after a Toyota Fortuner veered off the road and plunged into a drainage ditch just past Borrowdale Primary School.
Eyewitnesses say the driver was speeding and driving erratically moments before the crash.
“He almost sideswiped a kombi near the traffic lights,” said one commuter who witnessed the incident. “It’s like he had no control.”
Sources claim the same vehicle has been linked to other reckless driving incidents around Harare, including a recent collision in Highlands Park and a heated altercation with a soldier near State House.
“This isn’t the first time people have seen this Fortuner causing trouble,” another witness said.
After the crash, the unidentified driver reportedly jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

“People tried to chase him, but he vanished into the night,” said a bystander.
Police are yet to issue a formal statement, but investigations are underway to identify and locate the driver.
The abandoned vehicle has since been secured at the scene.
Motorists and pedestrians in the area have called for tighter traffic enforcement along Borrowdale Road, which has become notorious for speeding and reckless driving.
