RBZ to Rollout New ZiG Notes Starting Tuesday

RBZ to Rollout New ZiG Notes Starting Tuesday – The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has confirmed that new Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) banknotes will begin circulating from Tuesday, with commercial banks expected to start issuing the currency to the public.
RBZ Governor John Mushayavanhu said the central bank has printed sufficient notes to meet demand, assuring smooth access to cash across the economy.
Under the new framework, weekly withdrawal limits have been set at ZiG10,000 for individuals and ZiG100,000 for corporates.

Speaking to The Sunday Mail, Mushayavanhu said the rollout will include ZiG10, ZiG20 and the newly introduced ZiG50 denominations, with banks already having collected their allocations based on expected demand.
He added that the existing ZiG notes will continue to circulate alongside the new ones and will only be gradually withdrawn as they are deposited into the banking system.
“There will be no need for exchange points, as the transition will happen naturally through normal banking and commercial transactions,” he said.
