Rapper Maskiri Arrested Over Alleged Goat Fraud

Rapper Maskiri Arrested Over Alleged Goat Fraud – Rapper Maskiri was arrested in Chitungwiza yesterday following a police sting operation after he allegedly failed to supply imported Boer Kalahari Red goats to a US-based client who had paid him US$1,500.

Police say the complainant, Tonderai Chisoro, sent the money through Mukuru in three separate transactions after engaging the musician, who has recently ventured into goat-rearing and often promotes the “imported Boer Kalahari Red breeds” on his social media platforms.

Chisoro told reporters he had hoped to boost his family’s pen back home.

“I sent the money through Mukuru in three transactions,” he said.

“But when I started asking about the first delivery of five goats, the young man started changing goal posts… Eventually he just went quiet.”

A report was then filed at Chitungwiza Police Station (CR559/11/25), prompting a manhunt.

According to police sources, two officers identified as Dulani and Mushaninga set up a trap by pretending to organise a birthday party and requesting Maskiri to perform.

A fee of US$300 was agreed, with the rapper reportedly promising to bring fellow artist Tererai Mugwadi.

Yesterday afternoon, officers informed him they had raised US$200 as a deposit and invited him to Chicken Inn, Unit C junction. Upon arrival, he was apprehended in full view of stunned witnesses.

Even the InDrive driver who had transported him reportedly joined the chase, demanding his fare as officers arrested the musician.

Police say no money was recovered and investigations are ongoing.
