“Pastor’s ‘Taxi’ Gift to Wife Sparks Social Media Showdown

A Harare man accused of gifting a car—intended as an InDrive taxi—to his wife, claims he merely rented the vehicle, sparking a heated dispute with the car’s owner.

Walter Tatenda Amon’s wife posted photos of her “gift” on social media, alerting the car owner, Panashe Chikambure, who insists she lent the vehicle for business, not personal use.

Chikambure claims she gave Walter the car under a US$200 weekly payment plan, trusting him because he’s a pastor. However, she began seeing TikTok videos of his wife using the car for errands.

Adding to her frustration, Walter allegedly fell behind on payments and refused to return the car.

Chikambure reported the vehicle as stolen and eventually tracked it down via GPS, retrieving it in poor condition and still owed $300. “Pastor’s ‘Taxi’ Gift to Wife Sparks Social Media Showdown

Walter, however, defends his actions, saying he rented the car specifically for family use, with occasional InDrive trips.

He contends his wife has every right to drive the car they rented and has filed a defamation complaint against Chikambure for “exposing” his family online. The case is now before the Harare Civil Court.
