Pastor Jailed for Touching 19-year-old Congregant Inappropriately During Church Cleaning
A 44-year-old pastor from Glen View has been sentenced to nine months in prison after being found guilty of indecently assaulting a 19-year-old member of his church.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said the attack happened on December 8, 2025, at about 10:30 a.m.
The pastor had asked the victim’s mother for permission to have her help clean the church.
When she arrived, he hugged her and began touching her breasts and other private parts inappropriately. She protested, but he continued and told her he loved her.
The assault stopped when someone knocked on the church door. The victim later told her mother, and the pastor was arrested.
The Mbare Magistrates’ Court convicted him and sentenced him to 12 months, with three months suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour, resulting in an effective nine-month term.
The NPAZ criticised the pastor for abusing the trust placed in religious leaders, saying they should maintain the highest moral standards.
