One Dead and Several Injured in Harare-Masvingo Road Accident
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a tragic road traffic accident that occurred on January 10, 2026, along the Harare–Masvingo Road, resulting in the death of one person and injuring several others.
The incident involved a fifteen-tonne Mercedes-Benz truck, which was towing an empty trailer with a foreign number plate.
According to police reports, the truck was travelling in the inner lane from Skyline Tollgate towards the Harare Central Business District when the trailer detached unexpectedly.
As the trailer detached, it collided with a Toyota Hiace commuter omnibus carrying thirteen passengers in the outer lane, also heading towards the city center.
After the initial impact, the trailer veered off the road and struck three pedestrians.
Sadly, one of the pedestrians was pronounced dead at the scene, while the injured victims were transported to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for urgent medical treatment.
Local authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, urging drivers to exercise caution and adhere to road safety regulations to prevent further tragedies.
