Nollywood Actor Mike Godson Praises Zimbabwean Women, Jokes About “100 Cattle” Lobola

Nollywood Actor Mike Godson Praises Zimbabwean Women, Jokes About “100 Cattle” Lobola – Visiting Nollywood actor Mike Godson has charmed local audiences in Harare with his good looks and charisma, but he has also stirred debate with his comments on Zimbabwe’s traditional lobola practices.

Godson, who was in the country for the premiere of the film Lost In Ashes featuring Mai Titi, said Zimbabwean women were among the most beautiful and warm-hearted he had ever met.

However, he joked that the high lobola costs might prevent him from marrying a Zimbabwean.

“Zimbabwean women are beautiful, warm, and strong,” he told local journalists as reported by The Herald.

“But when I heard you can pay 100 cattle for just one wife, I thought, maybe, I should marry two and get a discount!”

He noted that in Nigeria, bride price is generally a flat rate regardless of background. Mai Titi, however, defended the practice, saying lobola is about culture, respect, and family values.
