Neymar Named Heir to £846 Million by Mystery Billionaire Who Never Met Him

A Brazilian billionaire has reportedly left his entire fortune—estimated at £846 million to football star Neymar, despite the two allegedly never having met.
The will was formalized on June 12 at a notary office in Porto Alegre, with two witnesses present, and is now awaiting clearance from Brazilian courts.
The deceased, whose identity remains undisclosed, was reportedly childless and single, prompting speculation that he chose Neymar as his sole heir out of personal admiration.
According to Brazilian outlet RIC, the businessman felt a strong emotional connection to Neymar, particularly admiring the player’s close relationship with his father, Neymar Sr.
This bond, he claimed, reminded him of his own late father. “He identifies with [Neymar] on a personal level,” RIC reported.
As highlighted by Dailymail.co.uk, the inheritance could face legal hurdles even if the will is authenticated, and Neymar has yet to issue any public comment regarding the matter.
While the legal process unfolds, Neymar has been focused on his football career.
The 33-year-old winger returned to his boyhood club Santos in January following an injury-plagued spell with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
He scored three goals in 14 appearances during the second half of the 2024–25 season, adding to his earlier tally of 136 goals in 225 matches for Santos between 2009 and 2013.
In June, he renewed his contract with the club, potentially paving the way for a return to Brazil’s national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Neymar expressed his deep affection for Santos in a statement posted on the club’s official website:
“I made a decision and I listened to my heart. Santos is not just my team, it is my home, my roots, my history and my life.
“Here I was a boy who became a man, and I am truly loved. Here I can be myself, truly happy. And it is here that I want to fulfil the dreams that are missing in my career.
“And nothing will stop me. I go, I come back and I stay. Where it all began and where it will never end.”
The Brazilian star has not played for the national team since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in October 2023.
Despite the setback, he remains Brazil’s all-time leading goalscorer with 79 goals.
His renewed form at Santos could be key to reclaiming his spot in the Selecao squad as he eyes redemption and unfinished dreams—on and off the pitch.
