Newcastle Shocks Man Utd with Second Win

...at Old Trafford Since 1972

Newcastle United shocked Manchester United by winning at Old Trafford, their second victory there since 1972. This loss means Manchester United has now lost three home games in a row, something they haven’t experienced in 45 years.

It’s also the first time since September 1962 that Manchester United has lost five league games in one month.

Newcastle’s early goals from Alexander Isak and Joelinton helped them secure the win, putting them in fifth place in the Premier League as 2024 ends. Isak has been on fire, scoring 12 goals this season and eight in his last six games.

Meanwhile, Manchester United played poorly. Coach Ruben Amorim made a change in the 33rd minute, taking off forward Joshua Zirkzee for Kobbie Mainoo, showing that his starting lineup wasn’t working.

Even though Marcus Rashford was on the bench, Amorim decided not to bring him in as his team fell to a fourth straight loss and couldn’t score for the third game in a row.

At the end of the year, Manchester United is in 14th place, just seven points above the relegation zone. What used to be a joke about relegation is now a real concern, especially with league leaders Liverpool coming up next at Anfield on Sunday.
