Nathaniel Brown Sets Sights on Wuxi 2025 Taekwondo Triumph

Zvishavane-based Taekwondo athlete Nathaniel Brown is preparing for the Wuxi 2025 World Taekwondo Championships in China this October, determined to showcase his skills on the global stage.

The 19-year-old, who won gold at the 2023 Southern Africa Big Championships, is leaving nothing to chance in his preparations for the prestigious tournament.

Set to compete in the 80kg category, Brown will first train in Mozambique next week under Master Itai before heading to Eswatini in May for a crucial preparatory tournament against regional opponents.

Brown expressed confidence in his training regimen, stating, “We have worked hard for the past three months, and I feel prepared. My goal is to bring home medals for Zimbabwe.”

His manager, Plascida Brown, emphasized the importance of the Eswatini tournament, believing it will provide vital exposure to high-level competition before the global showdown in China.

She also urged corporate sponsors to support Zimbabwe’s athletes, who largely rely on parental funding.

According to ZBC, Zimbabwe will send five athletes to the championships, all eager to bring home medals and make the nation proud.

With a well-structured training plan and unwavering determination, Zimbabwe’s Taekwondo hopefuls are confident in their chances of success at the global event.
