NAC Mourns Medelina Dube, Voice Behind Zimbabwe’s HIV Response Dies

Medelina Dube, the longtime director of communications at the National Aids Council (NAC), died Wednesday night, leaving behind a legacy that helped shape Zimbabwe’s national HIV response and public health messaging.
Her death was confirmed by NAC chief executive officer Bernard Madzima, who described her as a vital part of the organisation’s leadership and a driving force in its communications strategy.
“This is a very sad period for the entire NAC family. She was an integral part of our leadership team who made invaluable contributions to the organisation.
“We extend our deepest condolences to her family, loved ones, and colleagues.
“May we all find strength and comfort from the Lord during this difficult time,” Madzima said.
According to NewsDay, funeral arrangements are yet to be finalised and will be communicated in due course.
Dube’s passing has left a significant void in the council’s communications department, where she led efforts to amplify HIV awareness, engage communities, and strengthen stakeholder relations.
Her work was instrumental in advancing NAC’s mission to combat HIV and AIDS across Zimbabwe.
The council has called on staff and partners to honour her memory by continuing the work she championed with dedication, professionalism, and compassion.
