Museveni Says He Hasn’t Eaten Rice Since 1979

Yoweri Museveni says he has not eaten rice since 1979, the year he returned from Tanzania to fight in the war that overthrew Idi Amin.
That means nearly five decades without rice.
Museveni says his choice is about identity.
“I don’t eat rice because I am not an Indian. I don’t eat bread because I am not a European. I am indigenous,” he said.
His strict diet has sparked debate online, with people questioning whether eating local food reflects African pride — or if food choices are simply personal.
