Mt Hampden Family Tormented by Goblins, Lost Pregnancies, and Mysterious Fires

HARARE – A family of eleven living near Charles Prince Airport in Mt Hampden, Harare, claims they are under relentless attack from malevolent spirits and goblins, which they say have caused death, injury, and ongoing psychological torment.
The Mambo family, originally from Mambo Chitsungo in Mbire, Guruve, alleges that supernatural disturbances have plagued them for years, forcing them to abandon their rural home and seek refuge in the capital.
Cathrine Mambo, 52, says the ordeal began shortly after they settled in Guruve. She described how the attacks escalated without warning.
“The problems started pouring down like rain when we began experiencing attacks from goblins.
“They would speak whenever we called for help. I was burned by a mysterious fire, and my leg was injured. One of my children was also burned by a fire that started on its own and died,”she said.
Despite relocating to Harare, the family says the attacks have continued. They are currently being cared for by well-wishers, but the trauma remains.
One of Cathrine’s sons reportedly suffered permanent disabilities from another unexplained fire.
Gracious Matiko, 24, says she has experienced phantom pregnancies—pregnancies that vanish without medical explanation.
“I get pregnant, but then the pregnancy disappears. I don’t have any children, and now I’m afraid to even try.
“Relationships don’t last, and we all seem to have bad luck as a family. Nothing we do ever succeeds,” she said.
Shadreck Matiko, 26, described the alleged goblin assaults as frequent and violent.
He said the attacks have disrupted their education and daily life.
“The goblins hold parties and take turns beating us. We never get any rest. I’ve been kicked and beaten by them. We’re intelligent and do well in school, but these attacks have made it impossible to concentrate.
“We eventually ran away from home and came to Harare, where kind-hearted people are now helping us,” he said.
Glory Matiko, 22, confirmed her siblings’ accounts and added that the family has endured multiple tragedies.
She recalled the death of a sibling and a terrifying crocodile attack.
“Besides being beaten by goblins, which has caused us great suffering, one of our siblings died after being burned by a fire we couldn’t explain.
“My 11-year-old sister was bitten by a crocodile last June in the Hunyani River. My mother fought the crocodile until it let go and ran away,” she said.
The father of the family reportedly abandoned them due to the ongoing spiritual torment.
His whereabouts remain unknown, leaving the family to face these challenges alone.
Currently, the Mambo family is receiving support from Prophet Elijah of the Mercy World Mt Gilead church.
He believes the root of the problem lies within the family’s extended relations.
“The problem this family is facing comes from relatives.
“All these things will end through the power of God, through His son Jesus Christ. We want to help them start businesses and ensure the young children return to school,” he said.
Despite the trauma and uncertainty, the Mambo family remains hopeful that spiritual healing will restore peace to their lives.
