Mother of 8-Month-Old Baby K!lls Self Over US$60 – A young Chitungwiza mother of an eight-month-old baby tragically took her own life following a domestic dispute over US$69 in household savings.

The woman, whose identity has not been officially released, reportedly had an argument with her husband after he questioned her about the family’s savings.

The husband said he noticed the money had been moved and confronted her. In response, she said she had simply changed the storage location but later admitted to using part of it.

Trying to resolve the situation peacefully, the man called in her relatives for support. He believed the issue had been settled after she admitted to using one dollar and said she couldn’t account for the rest. “We talked. Her grandmother came and we thought everything was fine,” he said.

However, the following morning, the woman reportedly woke up and told her husband she wanted to end her life.

Despite efforts to calm her, she later locked herself inside the house while the man stepped out to report the matter to the police. Tragically, by the time help arrived, she had taken her own life, leaving behind her infant child.

“I don’t want to judge, but how does someone just say they want to die and it ends there? Was there more going on beneath the surface? I hope investigations dig deeper.”

Rutendo Chikara:

“Dear sisters, when a relationship becomes a burden, walk away before it breaks you. Death should never be the escape. That baby now faces life without a mother.”
