More Details Emerge on Former Warriors Striker Tendai ‘Fire’ Ndoro D£ath – The football fraternity in Zimbabwe and South Africa is mourning the death of former Warriors and Orlando Pirates striker Tendai “Fire” Ndoro, who passed away on Monday at the age of 40 after a prolonged illness.
Orlando Pirates, where Ndoro enjoyed the peak of his career between 2015 and 2017, confirmed the news in a statement.
“Orlando Pirates are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former striker, Tendai Ndoro. The club extends heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time,” read the tribute.
Ndoro is reported to have been found d£ad at his apartment in Sandton, South Africa.
He had been battling diabetes for several years and was recently hospitalised in Durban after developing a tumour under his armpit.
Despite treatment, his health deteriorated until his untimely passing.
Nicknamed Fire for his lethal finishing, Ndoro was regarded as one of the most gifted strikers of his generation.
His career began at Chicken Inn in Bulawayo, where his goal-scoring form earned him a move to South Africa’s Mpumalanga Black Aces.
He later joined Pirates, where he became a fan favourite, particularly in the 2016/17 season when he scored 12 league goals—just one shy of the Golden Boot.
Over the course of his career, Ndoro made 112 appearances in the South African top flight, scoring 36 goals and providing 12 assists.
He also played for Ajax Cape Town, Highlands Park, Botswana’s Nico United, and Saudi Arabia’s Al-Faisaly.
For Zimbabwe, he won nine international caps and was part of the squad that represented the country at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Even after stepping away from professional football, Ndoro remained connected to the game. Earlier this month, he was linked with a mentoring role at Eswatini’s Stumbo XI, but his passing cut short the new chapter.
Ndoro’s d£ath has left a void in football circles, with fans and former teammates remembering him as a natural goal scorer whose brilliance brought joy to many.
