Mohamed Salah Named Premier League Player of the Season

Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah has been awarded the Premier League Player of the Season for the second time in his career. The 32-year-old Egyptian previously won this honor in the 2017-18 season.
Salah played a key role in leading Liverpool to the Premier League title this year. He outperformed teammates Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch, the latter being recognized as the Young Player of the Season.
Gravenberch, 23, excelled as a midfielder, leading the league in interceptions with 59 and being the top Liverpool player for winning possession.

Other players nominated for the top award included Declan Rice from Arsenal, Alexander Isak from Newcastle, Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood as reported by BBC News. This marks the first season since 2018-19 that no Manchester City player has won the award.
In the Young Player category, nominees included Liam Delap (Ipswich), Anthony Elanga (Nottingham Forest), Dean Huijsen (Bournemouth), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Joao Pedro (Brighton), Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa), and William Saliba (Arsenal).
As the season comes to a close, Salah has scored 28 league goals, leading the league by five, along with 18 assists—six more than any other player.
He has also set a new record as the highest-scoring overseas player in Premier League history, surpassing Sergio Aguero’s previous record of 184 goals. Salah recently signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at Liverpool until 2027.
This month, he was also named the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year for the third time, receiving over 90% of the votes.
