Messi to Wear Body Cam During Matches, Live Footage to Stream Exclusively on TikTok

Messi to Wear Body Cam During Matches, Live Footage to Stream Exclusively on TikTok – Major League Soccer (MLS), in partnership with TikTok and Apple TV, has announced the return of the hugely popular “Messi Cam”, a dedicated livestream offering fans a unique player-focused experience.
Starting August 2, during Inter Miami’s Leagues Cup clash against Mexican side Necaxa, Messi will wear a body camera, and the real-time footage will be streamed live exclusively on TikTok.

The stream will be presented in a mobile-friendly vertical format, complete with custom graphics, overlays, and a dynamic viewing experience tailored for the digital generation.
MLS is branding the new experience as “Player Spotlight: Messi”, and it will feature across four matches during the 2025 season.
According to Seth Bacon, MLS Executive Vice President of Media, the goal is to take fan engagement to an unprecedented level.
“We’re bringing fans even closer to one of the greatest players of all time — in a way that’s dynamic, immersive, and made for the next generation of fans,” Bacon said.
The Messi Cam first debuted in October 2024 during Inter Miami’s playoff match against Atlanta United and shattered viewership records, pulling in over 6.4 million views across MLS and club TikTok platforms.
It went on to become the most-watched sporting event in Apple TV history, according to league officials.
The August 2 match also features a star-studded subplot as Inter Miami face Necaxa — a club co-owned by celebrities such as Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney, Mesut Özil, and Eva Longoria.
Fans can catch Messi’s every move on the official TikTok pages of MLS, Inter Miami, and Apple TV. Details of the remaining three Messi Spotlight games are expected to be announced soon.
MLS Commissioner Don Garber revealed that viewership for the league is growing steadily, with Apple Season Pass streams averaging 120,000 unique viewers per match in 2025 — nearly a 50% increase from last season.
