Mazvihwa Gears Up for Cultural Fiesta
MAZVIHWA- The residents of Vungowa communal lands are gearing up to host the inaugural Mazvihwa Arts, Culture, Sports, and Edutainment Festival on September 20th at Murowa Primary School in Ward 18. The event aims to promote and facilitate culture, arts, and sports for development, while fostering unhu/Ubuntu values.
In an interview with AfroGazette News, Chief Mazvihwa emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting culture as a vehicle for bringing people together.
“We are excited to host this festival, which will showcase the rich cultural heritage of Mazvihwa and strengthen our community bonds and promote unity.”
“We believe that this event will contribute to the government’s vision of an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.”
When asked about the festival’s role in supporting the government’s vision, Chief Mazvihwa explained, “The festival aligns with the government’s vision of an upper-middle-income economy by 2030, as it promotes entrepreneurship, talent development, and social cohesion.”
Chief Mazvihwa added the importance of addressing drug and substance abuse, stating that, “We must work together to create a safe and healthy environment for our youth, and this festival will provide a platform for awareness and education.”
Festival organizer, Arclone Tapson Hove, popularly known as “Masaisai,” highlighted the festival’s focus on promoting intercultural dialogue and tolerance, which is significant in today’s society.
“The festival will provide a platform for people of all ages to come together and celebrate their differences.”
Hove has extended an invitation to all residents of Zvishavane District, including Gonakudzingwa,Guru-guru, Chief Masunda, Chief Mafala, Chief Hwedza, and Chief Mapanzure to join the celebration.
“This festival is a significant step towards promoting our rich cultural heritage and fostering community development. I urge everyone to participate and make this event a resounding success, he said.”
The festival will feature a diverse range of programming,including performance arts, exhibitions, presentations on indigenous knowledge systems (IKS) and sports.
