Married Zambian Accountant Admits Striking Girlfriend Before Her Death – A 33-year-old married Zambian accountant on trial for the murder of his girlfriend has admitted striking her with an iron bar after discovering explicit messages on her phone.

Edward Mwanamuchele told the Chipata High Court that he became enraged after reading conversations allegedly exchanged between his girlfriend, 25-year-old Rhoda Munkombwe, and other men.

According to his testimony, one of the messages read: “I have missed your manhood,” to which the sender allegedly replied: “You have missed the German machine?” He claimed Munkombwe responded: “Yes, I want you to devour me.”

Mwanamuchele further alleged that another conversation involved financial assistance from a different man, while a third discussed plans to meet at a lodge.

He told the court that when he confronted Munkombwe, she said the men were helping her financially and making her feel appreciated.

Mwanamuchele admitted striking her legs with an iron bar but claimed he accidentally struck her head when she attempted to shield herself.

He said both had consumed alcohol before the incident and maintained that he had no intention of killing her.

The accused has been charged with murder, and the trial continues before Justice Charles Kafunda.
