Manhunt Launched after Harare Couple Loses US$34,000 in Alleged Residential Stands Scam

Manhunt Launched after Harare Couple Loses US$34,000 in Alleged Residential Stands Scam – A Harare woman has gone public alleging that she and her husband were defrauded of US$34,000 in a residential stands deal involving a man identified as Artwell Kashiri.
According to the complainant, all transactions were conducted through Lomlight Investments Private Limited offices in Belvedere, where payments were allegedly made and official receipts issued in the company’s name.
The woman claims that agreements for the purchase of the stands were prepared through lawyers linked to the transaction. However, problems reportedly arose after the couple was later accused of trespassing by the alleged rightful owners of the land.

“We later discovered that the stands did not belong to him after my husband and I were accused of trespassing by the real owners of the land,” she said.
She further alleged that after confronting Kashiri over the issue, he disappeared.
“When I contacted the lawyers involved, they claimed that he acted on his own without the company’s knowledge. However, all transactions were done at the company offices and the receipts were issued in the company’s name,” she added.
The complainant said the lawyers and the company allegedly later issued a written undertaking promising to repay the money on Kashiri’s behalf, but more than a year has passed without any reimbursement.
She also revealed that the matter was reported to the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID), and a warrant of arrest has since been issued for Kashiri.
The woman believes there could be other victims who may have fallen prey to the same alleged scheme and encouraged them to come forward.
“We suspect that he is either in Nyanga or Chipinge. There is a reward of US$1,000 for anyone with information that leads to his arrest,” she said.
Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts is being urged to contact 0788885370 or report to the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
