A socialite from Zimbabwe, asserts that Nigerian men are the best romantic partners.

In a surprising revelation that has set social media ablaze, renowned Zimbabwean socialite and influencer Plaxedes Dube, popularly known as Plaxedes Doobae, has stirred controversy by declaring that Nigerian men are unrivalled when it comes to love and romance. With a massive following on various social media platforms, Plaxedes Doobae has made a name for herself as a trendsetter and outspoken figure in Zimbabwean pop culture.

According to Plaxedes Doobae, once a woman experiences love from a Nigerian man, it becomes extremely difficult for her to revert to her previous romantic inclinations. She boldly asserted on her Twitter account,

“Once loved by a Nigerian, it’s hard to go back to the roots. Those men respect and honor you at levels you’ve never seen before.”

This statement sparked mixed reactions on social media, with both support and opposition flooding different platforms.

Mixed Reactions Unleashed: Zimbabweans Weigh In

In a previous post, Plaxedes Doobae seemed to defend Nigerian men against allegations of fraud, posing the question,

“So what if they do 419? What you gonna do?”

However, her recent claim about Nigerian men’s exceptional love skills has ignited a heated debate among Zimbabweans.

The responses to Plaxedes Doobae’s assertion varied greatly. One Twitter user, Teflon Don-Black Stallion, expressed scepticism and criticized the association of money with love, stating,

“You confuse money and love..Nonsense!u must read Americanah by Ngozi Chimamanda. Nigeria men are predators they target naive, vulnerable and gullible women. In the book she pointed out that Zimbabwe women are a group of most sought because they are regarded as loose gullible women desperate for sex. Nurses in UK are the most targeted for their security reasons, after they get their rights to live in UK, they go back to Nigeria to marry from their tribe.u got chain of suitors who are using u for their gains not love, DUMB!Nigerians are pure criminals.”

This was supported by Nyenze who argued that Zimbabwean men are the best,

“Spot on . Most nigerian men are con artists. So to keep everything in the closet they tend to give an extra until they are done with that woman. I mean until the lady is jailed for drug trafficking of involved in a serious crime where she can not be rescued. Zimbabwean men are the best under the sun , very genuine kana achikuda.”

Challenging the Narrative: Doubts and Counterarguments

The discussion took an interesting turn as Mai Tu challenged the credibility of the assertions being attributed to Nigerian author Ngozi Chimamanda’s works, emphasizing that she would never write something negative about another African woman. Mai Tu’s comment raised questions about the authenticity of the claims made against Nigerian men.

“I have read Ngozi’s books The purple hibiscus, half of a yellow sun, a cluster of short stories..listens religiously to her speeches and interviews..but l don’t believe Ngozi as a feminist and as as a pan Africanist… would NEVER write something so dreadful about another African woman. Never!!

“You’re putting your own thoughts onto paper and then you’re trying to authenticate your allegations by adding Chimamanda into the equation.”

Mai Tu also supported Plaxedes’ views on Nigerian men saying,

“Zimbabwean men won’t splash any cash, demand unprotected sex, expect to be served food that they haven’t bought, brings his whole army of friends to come and reap with him where they did not sow, puts up house rules in a house he doesn’t pay rent for …

“I can understand why the Zimbabwean women would rather go for a a lying Nigerian who splurges money on them and use the sweetest language ever.  Besides Zimbabweans are also known for fraud.”

While the debate rages on, it is important to note that personal experiences and cultural perspectives shape individuals’ opinions on relationships. The narratives shared by social media users highlight the complex dynamics and diverse viewpoints on love and romance.

The Ongoing Debate: Love and Relationships in the Spotlight

As Plaxedes Doobae’s statement continues to make waves, it remains to be seen whether her claim about Nigerian men’s exceptional abilities as lovers will garner more support or face further scrutiny. One thing is certain: love and relationships will always be a subject of intense discussion and diverse opinions.
