Man Digs Up Sister’s Skeleton as Proof to Access Bank Funds

Man Digs Up Sister’s Skeleton as Proof to Access Bank Funds – A disturbing incident has been reported in Odisha, India, where an elderly man exhumed his late sister’s remains and took them to a bank in an attempt to prove her death and access her funds.

The man, identified as Jitu Munda, had reportedly been trying to withdraw approximately Rs 20,000 from his sister’s account following her death in January. However, bank officials requested official documentation before processing the transaction.

After several unsuccessful attempts, Munda allegedly dug up his sister’s grave and presented her skeleton at the bank, shocking staff and customers.

Authorities indicated that the incident was largely due to a lack of understanding of the formal procedures required.

Police described the matter as a communication gap between the man and bank officials and confirmed that assistance would be provided to help him access the funds through proper legal channels.

The remains were later returned and reburied under police supervision. It was also established that the account’s listed nominee had passed away, leaving Munda as the only surviving claimant.
