Man Confronts Mother While Bathing, Accuses Her of Bewitching Him and Threatens to Rape and Kill Her with an Axe
The Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court has sentenced 25-year-old Edmore Chinyan’anya to four months in prison after he assaulted his mother with an axe.
The incident occurred on December 24, 2025, in Chinyan’anya Village, Zvimba.
According to reports, Chinyan’anya confronted his 54-year-old mother while she was bathing, accusing her of bewitching him.
He threatened to rape and kill her, then began sharpening an axe. Fearing for her safety, the mother escaped to a nearby house and locked herself in the kitchen.
Chinyan’anya followed her and damaged the door with his axe, injuring her finger as she tried to block him.
The mother managed to escape and left the kitchen, but Chinyan’anya continued to chase her, throwing bricks in her direction. Thankfully, the homeowners intervened and stopped him.
