Man City Faces Early Champions League Exit After PSG Loss

Manchester City is at risk of an early exit from the UEFA Champions League after losing 4-2 to Paris Saint-Germain. This defeat came after City had a two-goal lead, which they failed to hold onto. Now, Pep Guardiola’s team must win their final match against Club Brugge to qualify for the next round.
In the match on Wednesday, City took a 2-0 lead in the second half with goals from Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland. However, they allowed PSG to score four goals, leaving them in a difficult position. Currently, City sits in 25th place in the group standings, with only one game left to play.
Rio Ferdinand, a pundit for TNT Sports, expressed that it would be “embarrassing” for City to not make it to the knockout stages. He emphasized that, given their recent successes, fans expect them to at least reach this stage of the tournament. Ferdinand noted the team’s manager looked deflated after the loss, especially since they had a strong position in the game.
City has now dropped eight points in Europe and 14 points in the Premier League from winning positions this season. Ferdinand pointed out that the team seems to lack confidence, which affects their performance. He believes that when teams struggle to maintain leads, players become more cautious and make mistakes.
Steve McManaman, also commenting on the match, said that City looked disorganized in the second half. He noted that PSG could have scored even more goals, showing how vulnerable City became.
With their final match against Club Brugge coming up, City knows they must win to keep their hopes alive in the Champions League.
