Seh Calaz Facing Arrest, Struggling To Pay US$70 Monthly Child Support
Award-winning Zimdancehall chanter, Seh Calaz, real name Tawanda Mumanyi, could land in the dock for defaulting in paying $45 000 (US$70) monthly maintenance for his minor child.
Calaz was earlier this year ordered to deposit $45 000 into the account of the mother of his child, Moira Knight on or before the 30th or 31st of every month, but it seems he is struggling to do so.Knight, has since written to the chanter, through her lawyers, reminding him of his obligations.
“Further to the Magistrates’ Court order requiring you to pay $45 000 monthly for the minor, we write to you to kindly make payments as required by law promptly without delay.
“And, clear the arrears of amounts due, failure of which we are instructed to institute criminal proceedings, without further notice to you. “We trust that this shall not be necessary,” reads the letter from Moira’s lawyers.
Moira told H-metro that Seh Calaz doesn’t respect the judgment which was handed down by the courts. “He doesn’t pay anything until maybe the 7th or 8th of the month, instead of the last day of the month. He pays paanoda,” she said.
The maintenance was broken down as $15 000 for food, $10 000 (rent), clothes $5 000, medicals $5 000 and ancillaries $5 000.
However, Seh Calaz claimed the order was out of his league and vowed to lodge an appeal in the High Court.
Also on iHarare, controversial socialite, Mai TT is celebrating after her estranged husband Tinashe Maphosa was involved in some late-night furniture drama over a US$5 000 debt.
The furniture drama took place at Maphosa’s rented Madokero home late Saturday night.
Maphosa is reported to have tried to move out of his home in the middle of the night through his intermediary, Panashe Nzenza, but Bruno Furniturez, who sold the property to Maphosa, got wind of the news and promptly headed there accompanied by some police officers.
Bruno, who claimed that Maphosa had been ducking his calls and refusing to pay the US$5 000 balance remaining, then forced Panashe to offload everything back into the house.
