Man Arrested After Wife’s Disappearance, Suspected of Killing Her and Eating Body Parts
Police in Kyenjojo District, Uganda, arrested 40-year-old Richard Mwesige on May 2, 2026, over the suspected killing of his wife.
His partner, 35-year-old Karungi, had been missing for six weeks. Concerns were raised by a local village leader after noticing her long absence and Mwesige’s unusual behavior.
Police searched his home and found human remains. Some body parts were reportedly missing, and people in the community suspect he may have eaten them.
The remains were taken to Kyenjojo Hospital for DNA tests to confirm identity and determine the cause of death.
Authorities believe the man may have killed his wife, and investigations are ongoing.
