Malema Urges Zimbabweans to Find Jobs at Home, Instead of Going to South Africa

Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has called on Zimbabweans to look for jobs in their own cities, like Harare, instead of coming to South Africa.

He emphasized the importance of prioritizing South African workers for municipal contracts.

Speaking at the EFF’s Siyabonga Rally in Seshego on August 16, Malema pointed out the high youth unemployment rate in South Africa, which is 66.5%, MDN reports.

He stated, “We are not saying Zimbabweans should not be given jobs, but they must get jobs from their own municipalities.”

This statement reflects a change from Malema’s position in 2022, when he encouraged South African employers to hire Zimbabweans and other African nationals, while still prioritizing local workers.
