Kuwadzana Woman Wins Protection Order Over Bedroom Invasion by Daughter’s Boyfriend

HARARE – A Kuwadzana woman has taken legal action against her daughter’s boyfriend, accusing him of repeatedly using her bedroom for s€xu@l activities without her consent.

The confrontation escalated into alleged threats and violence, prompting her to seek a protection order.

Mary Muzengi told the Harare Civil Court she had warned Brighton Ketero not to enter her bedroom, but he ignored her. “I caught the young man in action with my daughter in my bedroom. I reprimanded them, but whenever I came back from work, I found them there,” she said.

She further claimed that Ketero stole her house keys and brought other women into the room when her daughter was away.

Muzengi alleged that Ketero later jumped over her gate, broke the bedroom door, and used the space as a hangout for his friends.

“I don’t know what this man wants from me because there are many bedrooms in my house, but he prefers to use my room,” she added.

She also claimed that when she tried to speak to her daughter, Ketero assaulted her, leaving her fearful in her own home.

Ketero denied being violent, saying, “I have never been violent, she is fabricating lies only to make me leave her daughter.”

However, he admitted to using the woman’s bedroom. “Yes, I have used her bedroom, and I don’t deny that. It is more comfortable than the other room,” he said.

He added, “Above all, I won’t leave her daughter because I love her, and I will stay close to her no matter what.”

Presiding magistrate Johanna Mukwesha granted a protection order in Muzengi’s favour, barring Ketero from accessing the property and providing her with temporary relief from the ongoing domestic tension.
