Kim Jong Un Chooses Daughter (13) as North Korea’s Next Leader – North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has reportedly selected his daughter, Kim Ju Ae, as his successor, according to South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS).

The spy agency briefed lawmakers on Thursday, saying Ju Ae has entered the stage of “successor designation” after increasingly appearing alongside her father at major state events.

These include military anniversaries, visits to key national monuments and high-profile international trips such as a visit to Beijing.

Lawmakers said the NIS based its assessment on her growing public prominence and signs that she may already be contributing to discussions on state policy.

The agency is also monitoring whether she will attend North Korea’s upcoming Workers’ Party Congress, a key political gathering held every five years where the country outlines its priorities on foreign policy, defence and nuclear strategy.

Kim Ju Ae, believed to be around 13 years old, first appeared on state television in 2022 during the inspection of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

Since then, she has frequently accompanied her father at official events, sometimes positioned prominently beside him — a rare gesture in North Korean political symbolism.

She is the only publicly known child of Kim Jong Un and First Lady Ri Sol Ju.

Although reports suggest he may have an older son, this child has never been officially acknowledged.

The reported move has raised questions, particularly in North Korea’s traditionally male-dominated society.

However, Kim’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, already holds a powerful position within the ruling party, suggesting women can wield influence in the regime.
