Kenyan Woman Stabs Five Children in Uganda, Killing Two after Husband Brings Second Wife

Kenyan Woman Stabs Five Children in Uganda, Killing Two after Husband Brings Second Wife  – A 43-year-old Kenyan woman has stabbed her five children in Uganda, killing two and seriously injuring three others, following a reported domestic dispute involving her husband’s decision to marry another woman.

The incident occurred on August 20, 2026, at the family home in Bunga, Ggaba, in Kampala’s Makindye Division.

The suspect, Dorothy Namayo, allegedly attacked her children following a dispute with her Malian husband, Ederisa Troy, who reportedly took a second wife.

One of the children, 14-year-old Khadija Daizy, died at the scene after suffering a stab wound to the neck. Another child, seven-year-old Hawa Dalena, later died at Nsambya Hospital.

Three other children, aged 13, eight and five, survived the attack and are receiving medical treatment.

Namayo is currently admitted at Mulago National Referral Hospital under police guard. Police are investigating allegations of murder, attempted murder and arson.

Preliminary investigations suggest the attack followed months of domestic disputes between Namayo and Troy.

The family’s housemaid, Mariam Saana, told police that the couple’s problems reportedly began in May after Troy allegedly married another woman.

“Since then, they have been fighting and quarrelling every time he comes home. There has been no peace here,” Saana told police.

She said Troy allegedly wanted sons because Namayo had only daughters.

According to Saana, the children had previously contacted one of Troy’s friends, who intervened and helped calm the situation before Troy left the home.

On the day of the incident, Saana said she woke up at around 5am after hearing a commotion from the main house.

When she opened the door, she reportedly saw a vehicle on fire outside. One of the children was allegedly at a window calling for help and saying their mother had stabbed them.

Saana said she tried to enter the house but discovered that the locks had been changed and the gate secured with a new padlock.

She raised an alarm, prompting neighbours to break open the gate and force their way into the house.

“When we got inside, we found the children’s rooms were also locked and had to force them open. We rushed the children in a police patrol vehicle to a clinic in Ggaba, and they were later referred to Nsambya Hospital,” one of the responders said.

Namayo was reportedly found locked inside a room and covered in blood. She was subsequently taken to Nsambya Hospital.

Neighbour Godfrey Mukisa said residents struggled to gain access to the house.

“When we entered, we found one child had been cut in the neck and was dead,” he said.

“Another child had been badly stabbed in the stomach, while the others also had stomach injuries.”

Mukisa said neighbours initially hesitated to intervene because they viewed the matter as a private family dispute.

“At first we heard the noise, but we didn’t want to interfere in the affairs of rich people. Then the girl kept calling and shouting at the top of her voice for help. Other people came out of their houses, and we managed to gain access. Police had also arrived, and we helped take the victims to Ggaba Hospital,” he said.

Another neighbour, Emmanuel Kazibwe, said the couple had frequently quarrelled but would later reconcile.

“We never imagined it would get to this point, with the woman killing her own children and then trying to take her own life,” Kazibwe said.

Kampala Metropolitan Police South, through Kabalagala Police Division, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police have recorded witness statements and recovered physical exhibits from the scene as they work to establish the sequence of events, the motive and what happened immediately before and after the attack.

Postmortem examinations on the deceased children are also expected to assist investigators in determining the exact causes of death.

Police have not yet issued final findings on the motive, while allegations surrounding the family’s marital dispute remain subject to investigation.
