“Jesus Is Coming Back on September 23, 2025”: Pastor’s Prophetic Vision Sparks Global Alarm

A South African pastor has triggered widespread debate by claiming Jesus Christ will return to Earth on September 23, 2025 — a date that coincides with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish Feast of Trumpets.
Pastor Joshua Mhlakela says he received the message in a divine vision and warns that the Rapture is near, urging believers to prepare spiritually — ready or not.
“I saw Jesus sitting on His throne, and I heard Him clearly say, ‘I am coming soon.
“On the 23rd and 24th of September 2025, I will come back to the Earth,” Mhlakela said.
He added, “The rapture is upon us, whether you are ready or not.”
The prophecy has sparked mixed reactions, with some believers sharing similar visions and others urging caution.
“My 10-year-old daughter dreamt of the rapture recently,” one person claimed.
Another wrote, “Wow, I can read people and Joshua is 100% telling the truth. I never even listen to visions, but God told me to pay attention to this.”
Others pointed to scripture, reminding, “Nobody knows the date or the time.”
The Rapture — a concept in Christian eschatology refers to believers being taken to heaven before a period of global tribulation. While Mhlakela’s prophecy has stirred excitement, many theologians urge caution.
Jesus Himself warned against predicting the timing of His return.
In Matthew 24:36, He told His disciples: “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
This verse is frequently cited to emphasize that no one — not even Jesus during His earthly ministry knew the appointed time.
As The Daily Mail reported, this passage continues to be a central point of debate among Christians, especially when claims of visions or prophetic dates emerge.
Adding to the speculation, a blood-red moon appeared on September 7 and 8, prompting references to Joel 2:31:
“The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.”
The eerie celestial event reignited discussions around biblical prophecy and end-time signs.
In a separate development, researchers have linked a historical lunar eclipse to the crucifixion of Jesus.
NASA-backed astronomical models suggest that on April 3, 33 AD — a date many scholars associate with Jesus’ death — the moon turned red over Jerusalem.
The theory, first proposed by Oxford scientists Colin Humphreys and W. Graeme Waddington, aligns with Matthew 27:45:
“From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land.”
Whether September 23 brings divine fulfillment or passes quietly, the prophecy has already sparked renewed interest in biblical signs and spiritual preparedness.
For many, the message is clear: stay watchful, stay ready, and keep your eyes on the heavens.
