A jaw-dropping tale of love and ingenuity has emerged from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade, Florida, where two inmates managed to conceive a child without ever meeting in person. Daisy Link, 29, and Joan Depaz, 24, both charged with murder, defied the odds—and prison walls—to welcome what they call their “miracle baby.”
The unlikely romance began with conversations through their cellblock ventilation system. “You spend hours talking, and it feels like you’re in the same room,” Link shared. Their shared dream of parenthood sparked an unconventional plan.
Depaz reportedly delivered his semen via Saran wrap through the vent using a makeshift pulley system. Link then used a yeast infection applicator to inseminate herself. After multiple attempts over a month, she became pregnant, a feat described by fertility experts as rare but possible. Jailbirds Conceive Baby By Passing Sp€rms Through Ventilator
Their daughter was born in June and now lives with Depaz’s mother. Despite being held in separate facilities, the pair continues to connect through phone calls and video chats with their child.
Miami-Dade Corrections is investigating the extraordinary case, which Link describes as “something out of a Lifetime movie.”
