Influencer Dies During Tattoo Procedure

Ricardo Godoi, a 45-year-old Brazilian influencer, sadly died while getting a back tattoo. This happened after he was given general anesthesia at a hospital in Santa Catarina, Brazil.
His death was announced on his Instagram account on Monday, January 20. The post said, “Today we say goodbye to Ricardo Godoi, an incredible person who touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. His joy, generosity, and spirit will always be remembered. May he rest in peace.”
Godoi had planned to get a full back tattoo and hired a tattoo studio for the job. Before the procedure, he told his followers he would update them afterward. Unfortunately, shortly after he was sedated, he went into cardiac arrest and died at noon.
The owner of the tattoo studio said Godoi died “at the beginning of the sedation and intubation,” before any tattooing began. He called Godoi a “great friend” and noted that medical staff quickly tried to revive him, but it did not work.
Police are now investigating what happened during the procedure. Godoi was known for his videos about luxury cars, often featuring his wife, Rafaela Gastaldi. He was also the CEO of his own business, Godoi Premium Group.
Godoi’s death highlights worries about people using general anesthesia for tattoos. Dr. John Baer, an anesthesiologist, mentioned that while wealthy people may find safer ways to get tattoos, there are still risks. He explained that the chance of dying from anesthesia has gone down over the years, but it is still a serious issue.
