Husband Evicts Wife and Kids for New Wife

A woman and her two children are sleeping outside in the rain after being evicted from their home by her husband, who has taken a new wife.
Violet Svoba, residing at 25B Tendere Street in Eiffel Flats, Kadoma, was forced out last week by the Messenger of Court.
Violet said, “My husband, Odson Machona, wants me to make way for his new wife.”
She explained that they were married in 2009 and have two children together. After his first wife died, Violet moved in with him, but family issues led them to buy a new house in 2019.
However, pressure mounted for her to leave their home. “Last year, my husband came home with his new wife, Melody Mugabe, whom he works with at Inkomo Barracks. He assaulted me in front of them,” she recounted. Despite reporting the incident to the police, her case has not been addressed in court.
On January 3, she and her children were evicted. “With all the rain that is pounding Kadoma, it’s tough. They even stripped the roof off the house and removed the doors,” she said.
This is not the first time Machona has abandoned his family. Violet stated, “I know my husband is a womanizer. In 2021, he moved out to live with another woman in Gweru but resurfaced in 2022. And now he is up to it again with Melody Mugabe.”
Machona could not be reached for comment and did not respond to messages sent to his phone.
