Husband Arrested After Abandoning Wife Who Donated Kidney to Save His Life – A 35-year-old Umme Sahedina Tuni sacrificed nearly everything — including one of her kidneys — to save her husband’s life, only to be betrayed, @bused, and abandoned once he recovered.
Tuni, who hails from the Kalma area of Savar, married her husband Tarek in 2006 through an arranged union while he was working in Malaysia.
A year later, they welcomed a son, Azmain Dibbo. Their lives appeared stable until 2008, when Tarek was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure.
Doctors warned that only dialysis and, eventually, a kidney transplant could prolong his life.
Determined to save her husband, Tuni took him to India’s Christian Medical College (CMC) Hospital in Tamil Nadu, where specialists revealed that both of his kidneys were functioning at only 24%.
He could survive for several more years with medication, but a transplant was inevitable.
Back home, Tuni took charge of her family’s future.
She opened a home-based beauty parlour and boutique business, earning between 40,000 to 50,000 taka monthly — all of which she devoted to Tarek’s treatment.
Over the course of a decade, she sold her savings, her wedding jewelry, and even used her mother’s pension to finance his frequent check-ups and medication in India.

When no family member agreed to donate a kidney, Tuni stepped forward herself.
On October 26, 2019, she underwent surgery at Delhi’s Apollo Hospital, donating one of her kidneys to Tarek under the care of Dr. Kailash Nath Singh.
Instead of gratitude, Tuni’s reward was heartbreak. Following his recovery, Tarek allegedly began an affair with a divorced woman. Tuni claims that he became abusive, eventually assaulting her and forcing her out of their home.
He then moved in with his mistress.
Tuni has since filed a domestic violence case against him.
Although Tarek was arrested, he has reportedly been released on bail.
