Husband Accused of Fatally Stabbing Wife in Brutal Property Dispute
CHEGUTU – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is investigating the murder case of Sophia Makenzi (33), who was fatally stabbed in Chegutu on May 2, 2025.
Her estranged husband, identified as Peter Centre allegedly stabbed her in the lower abdomen with a sharp object during a heated dispute over property division following their divorce.
In an official statement, ZRP confirmed that the couple had cohabited for eight months before separating.
Authorities allege that during an argument over ownership of shared assets, Centre attacked Makenzi, inflicting fatal injuries.
Police have launched a full investigation into the incident as they work to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the attack.
Authorities urge individuals involved in domestic disputes to seek legal mediation rather than resorting to violence.
