Historic Opening of Chahwanda Stadium Set for Premier Soccer League Clash in Kwekwe – The long-awaited Chahwanda Stadium in Kwekwe is set to host its inaugural top-flight football match this Sunday, when Scottland FC take on Hard Rock FC in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League fixture, kicking off at 3pm.

Fans are expected to turn out in large numbers to witness this historic occasion.

The stadium, privately funded by Zimbabwean businessman Shepherd Chahwanda, with additional support from Prophet Walter Magaya, represents a major milestone in local sports infrastructure.

Construction began with a groundbreaking ceremony on 3–4 November 2024 and was completed by the end of February 2026, taking approximately 15–16 months.

With a seating capacity of 15,000, Chahwanda Stadium meets CAF Category 2 standards, making it suitable for African qualifiers and preliminary international fixtures.

The facility features modern amenities, including properly lit pitches, medical rooms, segregated seating, and safety certifications.

Pending final inspections by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) and CAF, the stadium could soon host FIFA-sanctioned international matches.

Home to Chahwanda’s club, Hardrock FC, the stadium is envisioned as a hub for youth football development and broader community engagement, offering local talent a world-class platform to showcase their skills.
