Health Ministry Investigates Fake Nursing Recruitment Scams

The Ministry of Health and Child Care has launched an urgent investigation into a fraudulent nursing recruitment website and a surge of social media scams targeting hopeful applicants.
In a statement, ministry spokesperson Donald Mujiri warned that fraudsters are exploiting WhatsApp groups, private phone numbers, and social media platforms to deceive applicants into paying for non-existent nursing school placements.
“The only official announcements on nursing recruitment are made through mainstream public print media and our verified social media channels,” Mujiri said.

“Anything outside these platforms is illegal and designed to steal money from the public.
“We are working with law enforcement to track, arrest, and prosecute all individuals involved in these scams.
“Corruption, bribery, and backdoor recruitment will not be tolerated.”
Nursing training in Zimbabwe remains one of the country’s most competitive programmes, with thousands of hopefuls vying for a limited number of slots each year.
The ministry recently decentralised recruitment to improve transparency and give local applicants a fair chance.
However, the overwhelming interest has created opportunities for unscrupulous individuals to exploit vulnerable candidates.
