Gunmen Hijack Ex-Minister’s $70K Isuzu
A luxury Isuzu double cab owned by Mashonaland West senator and ex-minister Prisca Mupfumira was brazenly hijacked in Harare’s Avondale West on December 11.
Mupfumira’s driver, Edmore Mashasha, had gone to collect church uniforms on Ascot Road when armed men ambushed him. As Mashasha waited for a gate to open, the gunmen brandished pistols, forcing him out of the driver’s seat.
One hijacker took the wheel while the other blindfolded and tied Mashasha, shoving him into the backseat. They sped off before abandoning him along Mutoko Road. Mashasha managed to free himself and alert Mupfumira using a passerby’s phone.
The stolen vehicle, a royal blue Isuzu valued at $70,000, is now the focus of an investigation led by the CID Vehicle Theft Squad. Police urge anyone with information to come forward as the hunt for the suspects intensifies.
